Enhanced Multi-Word Search in Rome

August 20th, 2009 No Comments »

SearchMulti-Word search has been enhanced to search through both item description fields.  Previously the Multi-Word search would look through the 50 characters allowed in the Item Description field, but with the enhancement in the Rome release, BCR has effectively doubled the search capacity.

The Multi-Word search allows users to type search terms into the item search box and then returns all items that match the search criteria provided.  Lets say you wanted to search for all 18 volt drills in your inventory.  You could type “18V DRILL” into the search box and Multi-Word search will look for any items that have 18V and DRILL in their description fields.

Look for this functionality in the Rome release at the end of August.

Automated Reordering - MIN/MAX and EOQ

August 14th, 2007 No Comments »

BMA provides for several methods of Purchase Order (PO) creation.

1. Manual creation either by entering items or having BMA load all of the items designated for the vendor for which the PO is being created.

2. Automated creation from within Order Entry (if allowed for the user).  This provides a method of auto creating POs directly from a sales order based upon the quantity backordered (on sales order minus allocated).  Based on a system switch, BMA can either accumulate items on POs until they are printed or until they are posted.  Items are not considered on order until the PO is posted.  Items identified as drop shipped will be placed on seperate POs with the customer’s ship-to address becoming the ship-to address for the PO.  All PO lines created from within OE are linked to the corresponding sales order line so that upon receipt, inventory is automatically allocated to the linked sales order line.  Any excess inventory received is made available for allocation to other sales orders that are not linked to PO lines in order based on the sales order required date.

3. Automated creation from within a new (no line items) PO or from the auto creation menu selection.  Here, there are two methods for determining the quantity to be ordered. - MIN/MAX or EOQ.

MIN/MAX:

The MIN/MAX is the simplest method of creating POs.  If the available stock for an item falls below the Continue reading »

Drop Ship Sales Orders, Part 1

August 3rd, 2007 No Comments »

If you need to ship an item to a customer directly from the manufacturer, creating a drop ship sales order is the way to go, and they’re easy to do!

When creating a Sales Order in the Order Entry Module, you can click on the “DS” field on the order line. (if allowed by your user settings)

When you are finished entering line items on the sales order, you can either create a new P.O. or Add to a P.O that already exists for this particular sales order by clicking Add/Update PO.

After following these steps, you should have a purchase order in IP (Inventory/Purchasing) with the items from the sales order that were selected for drop ship.  This P.O. should have the same shipto as the header tab on the sales order.

Now we just need to post and receive the P.O.!  Once you receive and post the reciept (and auto-updating quantities for back-ordered items), BMA will automatically allocate the received inventory to the drop ship sales order.

When you’re ready to bill the customer, just invoice the completed sales order, and that’s it!!

More to come on drop ships next week…

BMA now allows users to resize columns when doing a physical inventory count.  Users with wide item numbers or picking locations should find this new development especially helpful.
